****Please Note: At this time, Dr. Ian Nurse is not accepting New Patients as he transitions his schedule to treating just three days a week. He makes this difficult decision with full confidence in the Team of chiropractors at WIMB who he has helped train and mentor.
Dr. Ian Nurse founded Wellness in Motion Boston with a strong background in the conservative care of soft tissue (muscle, tendon, ligament, fascia and nerve) injuries. He has successfully treated a range of patients – Olympic level runners; professional and recreational athletes; A-list movie stars; musicians; individuals dealing with work-related injuries; grandparents seeking more active/pain-free lives with their families.
As a marathon runner for the past twenty plus years, Dr. Nurse has endured many overuse injuries of his own. Unwilling to accept the typical response: “If it hurts when you run, you should stop;” that he received when seeking relief from his various injuries, Dr. Nurse turned to chiropractic and Active Release Techniques (A.R.T.). Not only did his training and racing improve, but he also found his calling. Dr. Nurse thrives to help those whose lives and hobbies are limited by pain and discomfort.
Focusing on the critical relationship between human locomotion and the soft tissues that drive movement, Dr. Nurse addresses an injury by finding the root of the problem and not just treating the symptoms. As every injury has its own chronology and pattern, Dr. Nurse utilizes a patient’s history, as well as a thorough biomechanical and soft tissue assessment to formulate an appropriate treatment plan. While each injury’s treatment requires its own strategy, overall outcome goals are similar:
· Restore proper biomechanics and soft tissue function;
· Improve general range of motion of the involved joint;
· Increase power and strength of the involved tissues;
· Decrease frequency, duration and intensity of symptoms;
· Reduce the chance of re-occurrence.
Dr. Nurse is a fully certified Active Release Techniques provider with experience focused on the spine, lower extremity and upper extremity. He is also a certified provider of Graston Technique. Like A.R.T., Graston Technique safely and conservatively treats scar tissue and fascial adhesions through detection and effective break down of scar tissue fibrosis and chronic inflammation.
An avid athlete, Dr. Nurse has run in hundreds of road races all over the world. He continues to train competitively in hopes of improving on his personal best marathon time of 2:25 (Boston ‘13 and ‘14). This commitment to training has given him a unique understanding of the mental and physical demands of endurance training. Aside from running, he enjoys photography (actually most of the photos on this web site are his), reading, cycling, hiking, soccer, lacrosse and experiencing the outdoors.
Dr. Nurse is currently the team chiropractor for the New Balance Boston professional running team. He graduated Cum Laude at both Western States Chiropractic College of Portland, Oregon and Colby College of Waterville, Maine.

As an athlete, trainer and women’s health advocate, Dr. Bruno approaches each patient relationship with a vast background in bodywork and the desire to help individuals further their wellness & athletic goals. She believes deeply in raising the standards of perinatal care for all - and bridging the gap between birth and feeling like yourself again.
Prior to chiropractic school, Emma obtained a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and worked as a NASM certified personal trainer & pilates instructor for many years - she felt connected to her clients and their stories but always knew there was another level of care she wanted to provide. After thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2016 and battling many injuries as a result of the training and the hike itself, she relied heavily on bodywork and realized that hands-on care was the missing link in her career.
Throughout her clinical training, Emma treated pre and post operative patients at an outpatient neurosurgery clinic and provided care for underserved communities at a teaching hospital in the greater Buffalo area. Her post graduate training includes Active Release Technique (ART), Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation (IASTM), Dry Needling for Orthopedic Rehab & Sport Performance, Dry Needling for the Lumbo Pelvic Hip Complex, and Webster Technique for prenatal patients. She is in the process of obtaining a Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist certification to optimize postpartum rehab for her patients.
Driven by a love of hiking, strength training and the gift of being healthy and active, Emma cares deeply about the right to thorough, compassionate healthcare that allows patients to live and move in a way that brings them joy. When not treating patients at WIMB, Emma can be found reading, baking sourdough or checking off more summits as she pursues the completion of hiking all 48 of New Hampshire's high peaks.
