Gait Analysis & Retraining

MOST running related injuries are caused by a combination of muscle imbalance and improper shoe support. Having a trained professional analyze your gait is a great way to identify muscles that need strengthening and whether you are in the right shoe for YOU.

WIMB’s Physical Therapists and gait specialists, Lauren Lozier, Wilson Ray and Kylie Cardoso are currently offering running gait analysis at our Downtown, Cambridge, University Club and Concord locations.

A gait analysis is a systematic assessment of how a person walks or runs. Our gait analysis appointments are completed by our trained Physical Therapists. It typically involves observing various aspects of movement, such as stride length, speed, and biomechanical faults. This is completed with a slow motion video, with research in mind. The goal is to identify any abnormalities or inefficiencies in movement that could lead to injury or impact performance. There may be exercises prescribed based on what is found to help assist your running form.

A gait analysis can be beneficial for new and seasoned runners or athletes of all ages and experience levels. Following this evaluation, your practitioner will help you to better understand your gait mechanics and develop a follow up plan and strategies to keep you healthy and improve your efficiency and form.

Initial evaluations are $150 for 60 minutes. To schedule check out link below or call our office at 617 505 6742.
